Just some photos taken on my way home from the internship today...

The apple trees are blooming in the middle of the winter!

This tower is one of two in Valdivia, still standing from when the city was a major port for the Spanish empire in the western hemisphere.

The high schools sometimes join the college protests, like this school. The banner reads "for a quality public education."

One of the many smaller plazas in the city, with the riverside market, called the feria fluvial, in the background.

The view of Valdivia from the Puente Cruces, the bridge that crosses the Cruces river to Isla Teja.

The lobos marinos, sea lions, are enormous from all their snacking at the feria fluvial. There are usually a few lounging on the raft and a few growling at the market vendors to throw them some fish.
