That was the slogan on all the napkins and things at the wedding last night. I like how it translates: "thank you for sharing our happiness." Yes, the opportunity to see a Chilean wedding! Will's host sister was the bride, and the family was nice enough to let me come for the celebration after the church part and the dinner part. Honestly it was really similar to a north american wedding. Some interesting bits:
- lots of dancing, including cueca. the best dancers were the elderly couples, really impressive.
- at 2 or 3 in the morning a surprise drumming/dancing group came in and put on a show
- we didn't leave until after 4 am, and that was considered leaving early!
I'm not sure if this is something they do in North America, it's similar to boquet-throwing. All the single women grab one of these ribbons and pull them out of a bowl at the same time to see who gets the ribbon with the ring attached. Mine didn't have the ring, just this little doll thingy.
