Chiloé

Even though I am now writing from the US, here are some of the photos from the trip to the island of Chiloé...

We crossed the channel in this transbordador.

We got to the town of Castro, which has very high tides, 7 meters! That's why they build the waterfront houses, palofitos, on stilts.

This place is also famous for its wooden churches from the very first Spanish Jesuit settlers a few centuries ago. We got a little bored of looking at cute buildings and hoofed it to the national park to go backpacking the day after we got there. That journey might take up another whole post, so here's a teaser of the awesome deserted beaches we found.
